City Lights: Photo by Sharon Burtner

Apartment 303

Creaking softly overhead
Won't you come to see me?

Who is it who's familiar
Only to my ears?

Our buildings same,
Our water shared;
Yet strangers we are
And no one cares.

Just think if I
Should come see you.
Tell me truthfully
What you would do.

Would you have an engagement
You must get ready for
Or ask me to stay
And hope I come more?
